The Future Generation

Growing up with the presence of the surf tourism industry on their shores has opened the eyes of the Mentawai  youth to a new and different world.  But for a lot it is a world they can not interact with or grasp yet.  Their curiosity and eagerness are palpable.  But without any means to acquire necessary skills and knowledge, and without an example to follow, they are left wondering, shy and confused.

English is a key factor enabling these bright young generations the means to play their legitimate role in the future development of their region along sustainable lines. Encouraging cooperation between outside developers and themselves at the earliest stages possible will benefit all parties and the area as a whole.
